Telekom Malaysia Berhad announced cessation of Datuk Shazril Imri Bin Mokhtar as executive managing director. Date of change is 31 July 2023. Age: 50.

Reason: Completion of three (3) years tenure as Managing Director/Group Chief Executive Officer of TM, a nominee of TM's Special Shareholder, Minister of Finance, a body corporate established under Minister of Finance (Incorporation) Act 1957. Qualifications: Degree, Electronics Engineering and Management Studies, University College London, United Kingdom, Bachelor of Engineering (1st Class Honours). Others: Leadership programmes, Cambridge Judge Business School and Harvard Business School.

Working experience and occupation: Datuk Imri brings with him over 26 years of experience in telecommunications and strategy. He was appointed as TM's Managing Director (MD)/Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) and Non-Independent Executive Director on 1 August 2020. Datuk Imri previously served as TM's Chief Operating Officer (COO) responsible for overseeing the business operations of TM Group with special focus on unifi, TM One and TM Global and the Performance Improvement Programme.

During his time as COO, he also served as TM's Acting Group Chief Executive Officer from 16 November 2018 until 13 June 2019. Prior to his appointment as COO, he was the Executive Vice President (EVP) of unifi. He first started his career with TM in 1996 and re-joined TM in 2005 and served in various positions in TM including as Vice President (VP), Programme and Performance Management Office and EVP, Consumer.

Prior to re-joining TM in 2005, he was with a pay-TV operator in Malaysia and before that a consultant with a global management consulting firm.
