Tenaris participated at the OMV Group Supplier Sustainability & Innovation Day geared toward advancing collaboration with suppliers to enhance sustainability along the whole value chain.

The event encompassed three main panels: innovation, climate change and circular economy.

OMV is an international, integrated oil, gas, and chemicals company, headquartered in Vienna, Austria. OMV has a strong base in Central and Eastern Europe as well as a balanced international portfolio, with Middle East & Africa, the North Sea and Asia-Pacific as core regions. In 2004, the company acquired a 51% stake in the Romanian oil and gas group OMV Petrom, a key customer for Tenaris in Romania.

Tenaris commercial VP Europe, Caspian Sea and Sub-Saharan Africa, Alessandro D'Angelo, took part in the discussion about climate change and of the importance of building successful alliances on the path to reach net zero. 'We are convinced that without including the full value-chain players, the energy transition would not be effective,' said D'Angelo, emphasizing the importance of involving suppliers, customers, and stakeholders in the process.

'We're working together with our partners in order to develop an extensive products catalog to accompany the energy transition,' said D'Angelo 'With many of our customers, such as OMV Petrom in Romania, we are trying to minimize the overall supply chain carbon footprint by offering services such as Rig Direct that reduces pipe handling and waste from production to well.'

Advancing partnerships, aligning CO2 accounting across the supply chain, and investing in education are the main successful factors to move sustainability forward D'Angelo shared during his speech. 'I think that education is a key pillar that we need to keep fostering so that hopefully someone will be better than us tomorrow,' he concluded.
