The Advest Group, Inc. is a financial services holding company engaged in securities brokerage, trading, investment banking, asset management, trust and other financial services. Principal operating subsidiaries are Advest, Inc., a broker/dealer and Advest Bank and Trust Company, a federal savings bank. Other subsidiaries include Boston Advisors, an investment advisor, and Billings & Company, Inc., a real estate services company. In August 2000, the Board of Directors of the Company approved the acquisition of all of the ownership interests in the Company by The MONY Group Inc., a holding company which, through its subsidiaries, is primarily engaged in the business of providing a wide range of life insurance and other financial products and services to higher income individuals.
