Mauritius Chemical & Fertilizer Industry Ltd. reported audited earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2011. For the year, the group reported profit before tax of MUR 64,980,000 compared to profit before tax of MUR 95,784,000 reported a year ago. Basic earnings per share was MUR 2.20 compared to MUR 3.82 reported a year ago. Profit attributable to owners of the parent was MUR 48,340,000 compared to MUR 83,960,000 reported a year ago. Operating profit was MUR 17,966,000 compared to MUR 30,517,000 reported a year ago. Revenue was MUR 690,404,000 compared to MUR 610,464,000 reported a year ago. Net cash used in operating activities was MUR 102,305,000 compared to net cash from operating activities of MUR 82,181,000 reported a year ago. The group recorded a growth of 13% in its turnover attributable to an increase in volume of export sales of fertilizers and satisfactory level of activities from its Zambian subsidiary. The fall in profit before tax is due mainly to a drop in profit margin on sales of fertilizers and adverse results from its associate company Rehm Grinaker Construction Ltd. Net assets per share increased from MUR 34.29 to MUR 35.41 at December 31, 2011. A dividend of MUR 1.00 per share, representing a total of MUR 22.0 million was declared in December 2011.
