The New York Times today unveiled a redesign of its popular Games app, marking the most significant design refresh since the app debuted in 2009. Originally launched as The Crossword app, our digital playground has grown, thanks to our solvers' insatiable appetite for fun, challenging and intellectually stimulating games.

The new Games tab in the app is your one place to play our daily puzzles, archives and crossword packs. The introduction of the all-new Games tab brings a fresh, sleek look and a seamless way to access the entire New York Times Games portfolio. What else is in store?

  • New Game Card Designs: Dive into a visually stunning interface that makes discovery of our games for new players even more fun and inviting:
    • Cards reflect your progress on Spelling Bee, Wordle, The Crossword and The Mini, making it easier for solvers to see what they've already played or how far along they are in an in-progress puzzle.
    • Cards also surface past puzzles and archives directly in the feed, offering our dedicated players up-to-date information and easy access to previous puzzles they haven't yet completed.
    • By highlighting the entire breadth of our portfolio through distinct cards, clear game branding and playful color, we make discovery of our games for new players more fun and inviting
  • Streamlined Navigation: We've made the navigation simpler by adding all games, archives and packs in one place, simplifying your journey to the games you love.
  • Spelling Bee Past Puzzles: Games and All Access subscribers can now easily view and play all Spelling Bee puzzles from the current week and last week in the Games app.
  • Personalized Greetings: The redesigned app offers personalized greetings that are unique to solvers, which sets a warm and welcoming tone, deepening our relationship with puzzle fans.
