Russia Eyes Odesa Plant And Turboatom

Russia intends to buy Odessky Priportovyi Zavod and Joint Stock Company Turboatom through participation in a consortium. "We've paid attention to the announcement on the sale of Turboatom and Odesa Port-Side Plant. Russia is interested in the participation in the tender," Mikhail Zurabov, Russian Ambassador to Ukraine, told Interfax-Ukraine on June 21, 2013.

"But I think Ukrainian partners are not ready that Russia will buy the entire enterprises. Maybe, a certain consortium will be created," the Russian ambassador added.

Turboatom AT, formerly Turboatom PAT, is an Ukraine-based company, which is engaged in the power equipment manufacturing of power machine industry. The Company manufactures steam turbines for thermal generating and nuclear power stations, hydro turbines for hydro power plants and pump storage power plants, and gas-driven turbines for combined-cycle plants. It specializes in the production of steam and hydraulic turbines of total installed capacity 8 million kilowatts and 2 million kilowatts per year, respectively. The Company operates through laboratory, experimental complex and production unit. The Company is active domestically, as well as exports its product to approximately 45 countries, including Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, Norway, Argentina and Finland, among others.
