Ube Industries, Ltd. Revises Earnings Guidance for the Half Year Ended September 30, 2015 and Full Year Ending March 31, 2016

Ube Industries, Ltd. revised earnings guidance for the half year ended September 30, 2015 and full year ending March 31, 2016. For the half year, the company expects net sales of JPY 325.0 billion against previously reported guidance of JPY 330.0 billion, operating income of JPY 20 billion against previously reported guidance of JPY 14 billion, ordinary income of JPY 21 billion against previously reported guidance of JPY 12 billion, profit for the period attributable to the owners of the parent of JPY 13.5 billion against previously reported guidance of JPY 7 billion. Net income per share is expected to be JPY 12.76 against previously reported guidance of JPY 6.62.
For the full year, the company expects net sales of JPY 670.0 billion against previously reported guidance of JPY 685.0 billion, operating income of JPY 39.0 billion against previously reported guidance of JPY 36 billion, ordinary income of JPY 38.5 billion against previously reported guidance of JPY 32.0 billion, profit for the period attributable to the owners of the parent of JPY 21.0 billion against previously reported guidance of JPY 17.0 billion. Net income per share is expected to be JPY 19.85 against previously reported guidance of JPY 16.07.
UBE Corporation (formerly Ube Industries, Ltd.) specializes in manufacturing and marketing of chemical products. The group is also developing a production of building materials and industrial machines activity. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- sale of basic chemical products (53%): polymers, polyamide resins, caprolactams, industrial chemical products, synthetic rubbers, elastomers, polyethylene films, etc.;
- manufacturing of molding machines and industrial equipments (21.7%);
- sale of specialty chemicals (10.8%): polyimides, membrane separation products, ceramics, boron trichloride, Tyranno type fibers, materials for lithium-ion batteries, phenol-formaldehyde resins, active pharmaceutical ingredients, etc., primarily for the electric vehicle, electronic components, semiconductor, biofuels and pharmaceutical industries;
- other (14.5%).
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: Japan (63.4%), Asia (21.1%), Europe (8.7%) and other (6.8%).
