Valhi, Inc. reported earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2022. For the second quarter, the company reported sales was USD 634.6 million compared to USD 525.3 million a year ago. Revenue was USD 649.6 million compared to USD 533.1 million a year ago. Net income was USD 28 million compared to USD 21.4 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.98 compared to USD 0.75 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.98 compared to USD 0.75 a year ago.
For the six months, sales was USD 1,263.6 million compared to USD 1,034.3 million a year ago. Revenue was USD 1,278.6 million compared to USD 1,049.1 million a year ago. Net income was USD 73.4 million compared to USD 36.2 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 2.57 compared to USD 1.27 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 2.57 compared to USD 1.27 a year ago.
Valhi, Inc. is primarily a holding company, which operates through its subsidiaries, NL Industries, Inc., Kronos Worldwide, Inc., CompX International Inc., BasicManagement, Inc. and The LandWell Company. Its segments include Chemicals, Component Products, and Real Estate Management and Development. Chemicals segment produces and markets value-added titanium dioxide pigments. Component Products segment manufactures security products used in the postal, recreational transportation, office and institutional furniture, cabinetry, tool storage, healthcare and a variety of other industries. The segment also a manufacture wake enhancement system, stainless steel exhaust systems, gauges, throttle controls, trim tabs and related hardware and accessories for the recreational marine industry. Real Estate Management and Development segment owns real property in Henderson, Nevada. The segment develops certain land holdings for commercial, industrial and residential purposes in Henderson, Nevada.
