(Alliance News) - Edison Rsp Spa announced Thursday that Verallia and Edison Energia have signed an agreement to supply green energy.

With the new agreement, Edison Energia, the group company engaged in the sale of electricity and gas to businesses and households, intensifies its support to Verallia on its decarbonization path through a partnership that provides supply from renewable sources for all Italian plants.

The multi-year "Power Purchase Agreement" signed will thus allow Verallia to significantly reduce CO2 emissions: savings until the end of the contract - scope 2 - will be about 170 thousand tons.

The energy supplied - amounting to more than 350 GWh - will come from a mix of renewable sources from different plants in Italy: a new photovoltaic plant in Viterbo will be the primary source.

In recent days, the company points out in a note, "during the CSR Suppliers Award - the recognition given to suppliers who have most distinguished themselves for their sustainable commitment during the year - Verallia awarded Edison Energia itself as one of the three best partners in 2023."

"Verallia has long decided to play a leading role in the transformation of the packaging sector, intensifying its actions - the reduction of 46 percent of emissions by 2030 - and strengthening the circular and virtuous dimension of glass packaging," Edison concludes in the note.

Edison's Rsp stock gives up 0.7 percent to EUR1.62 per share.
