The Swedish Competition Authority approves cooperation between Gotlandsbolaget and Viking Line

Viking Line and Gotlandsbolaget announced on 9 August 2023 (https://www.vikingline.com/investors/stock-exchange-releases/88C78E4AB34D4832) that they are forming a joint company with the task of developing and offering cruises with M/S Birka Stockholm between Stockholm-Mariehamn and Stockholm-Mariehamn-Visby.

The completion of this business transaction and the start-up of the new joint venture are contingent on the approval of the Swedish Competition Authority. The Swedish Competition Authority has today August 23, 2023 announced that they are deciding to leave the concentration without action, which means that the deal is proceeding according to plan.

Viking Line Abp is a Finland-based company engaged in the passenger and freight transportation on the Baltic Sea. The Companyâs activities are divided into two segments: Passenger Services, which provides overnight and day cruises between Finland and Sweden, Finland and Estonia, as well as charter voyages; and Cargo Services, which offers sea transport, stevedoring and freight forwarding services on routes between Finland, Aland Islands and Sweden, as well as between Finland and Estonia. Its onboard services comprise shopping, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and accommodation. Additionally, the Company operates Park Alandia Hotel in Mariehamn, as well as is responsible for the scheduled and chartered bus transportation in Finland and Sweden.
