AGL Energy (AGL) congratulates the Gloucester community for securing $8.3 million to upgrade the Bucketts Way and associated road transport infrastructure.

On Monday 8 May NSW Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight, Melinda Pavey and Member for Upper Hunter, Michael Johnsen visited the region to announce the funding.

AGL Head of Government and Community Relations Tony Chappel said that AGL was pleased to have assisted the Gloucester community with this important transport and safety initiative.

'AGL provided funding for consultant Brett Peterkin to help guide the community through the comprehensive process of securing the NSW Government funding.

'Brett has been working closely with Advance Gloucester, Gloucester Business Chamber and other key stakeholders over the last 18 months, to achieve this fantastic outcome.

'It's an example of what can be achieved when local councils, the NSW Government, business and local community leaders work together towards a common goal.

'The Bucketts Way upgrade will improve road safety and provide better transport links for the Gloucester community.

'We acknowledge and thank the NSW Government for recognising the value and importance of this project.

'AGL is very pleased Brett has made a lasting and valuable contribution, assisting with securing funding for several other local community initiatives.

'Brett has also been involved with the upgrades at the Gloucester Showground and Sportsgrounds and assisted with the Stroud Showground funding application totalling almost $1 million,' Mr Chappel said.

Funding for the Bucketts Way upgrade has come from the NSW Government's Fixing Country Roads program.
