ASICS : CEO Motoi Oyama Assumes Additional Role as Chairman of the Board; Executive Officer Tsuyoshi Nishiwaki Becomes Director

Kobe, March 30, 2017 -- ASICS Corporation (Tokyo: 7936; ISIN: JP3118000003) has announced that company President, CEO, and Representative Director Motoi Oyama assumed the additional role of Chairman of the Board of Directors, while Executive Officer and Senior General Manager of the ASICS Institute of Sport Science Dr. Tsuyoshi Nishiwaki has joined the Board as a Director. These appointments, previously announced on February 13 and January 27, respectively, come in response to ongoing growth in the scale of the company's business worldwide.

Oyama, who became CEO of ASICS in 2011, having held the positions of President and Representative Director since 2008, brings almost 35 years of experience with the company to his now-expanded duties. Since joining ASICS in 1982, he has held a succession of senior positions, including President and Chief Operating Officer of ASICS Europe B.V., and Senior General Manager of the Marketing Division. He also served as ASICS Managing Director from 2006 to 2008. He was first appointed as a director in 2004.

Dr. Nishiwaki was made an Executive Officer of the company in April 2014, at which time he was also promoted from Director to Senior General Manager of the ASICS Institute of Sport Science (ISS), a center for research into biomechanics, ergonomics, materials and design aimed at the creation of cutting-edge products and services. With ASICS since 1987, he brings extensive knowledge and experience in the field of footwear and sportswear R&D to the role of Director.
