As head of the Application Platform and Services group, Weir is responsible for delivering common enabling technologies that enhance the productivity of application developers, particularly on the company's new NEXEN digital platform.

"As we continue to roll out functionality of our new NEXEN digital ecosystem, it is increasingly important that we leverage common services, which are the building blocks of the new client and business solutions we create," said Suresh Kumar, Executive Vice President and CIO. "With John's experience and leadership, this new group in our technology organization will focus on delivering consistent, reliable and resilient solutions faster and more effectively, for both our clients and our company."

Over the course of his career, Weir has worked in various functions and roles across finance. He was previously the global head of Middleware Engineering at Goldman Sachs where he provided the firm's application development teams with the tools, platforms and services required to accelerate solution delivery. Prior to that, he was their Chief Technology Officer for Operations Technology, overseeing the design and development of application software.

NEXEN is BNY Mellon's next generation digital ecosystem currently being rolled out to clients. It will consolidate business and functional services from BNY Mellon, select third-parties and clients onto one platform for clients.
