Custody Risk Americas award showcases growth of custody service created just over two years ago in Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, 7 July 2015 - BNY Mellon, a global leader in investment management and investment services, announced that it was named "Custodian of the Year - Latin America" in the Custody Risk Americas Awards. Since 2011, the Custody Risk Americas Awards, a program of Custody Risk magazine, has recognized outstanding achievers in the securities services industry in North and South America. The award was presented recently at the Marriott Marquis in New York.

BNY Mellon launched its custody service in Brazil in December 2012. Since then, more than 800 investment funds from independent asset managers and institutional clients have signed on to the company's custody platform, totaling R$32.8 billion in assets under custody (ANBIMA Ranking, May 2015). After only two years, BNY Mellon now ranks as the 11th largest institution providing custody services in Brazil by ANBIMA.

"We are recognized in the Brazilian market for being the custodian with the greatest capacity to provide new solutions to our clients and for delivering more detailed information to them," said Carlos Augusto Salamonde, BNY Mellon's head of Asset Servicing for Brazil and Latin America. "We're working hard to provide local clients with customizable solutions through our global platform, along with industry-leading service and innovation across every phase of the investment lifecycle."

BNY Mellon captured multiple honors in the 2014 Custody Risk Americas Awards, including 'Most Innovative Project of the Year,' 'Securities Services Provider of the Year,' and 'Custodian of the Year: U.S.' The company's Canadian joint venture, CIBC Mellon, was named 'Custodian of the Year: Canada,' while its Eagle Investment Systems subsidiary earned the 'Asset Servicing Technology Vendor of the Year' award.
