Discontinuation of Disclosure Reports of European Embedded Value for First Half of the Fiscal Year

Dai-ichi Life Holdings, Inc. (the "Company") hereby announces the discontinuation of disclosure reports of Dai-ichi Life Group's European Embedded Value ("EEV") for first half of the fiscal year effective from the financial results announcement for the six months ended September 30, 2017.

The Company has published EEV disclosure reports semi-annually in the past (i.e., for first half of the fiscal year, as well as for the full fiscal year). Publication of the EEV disclosure reports for first half will now be discontinued; however, most EEV figures for the first half (including EEV or value of new business) will continue to be provided in other financial disclosure materials published by the Company.

The Company has also requested an independent actuarial firm to review the calculation of EEV and obtained a third party opinion semi-annually in the past. From here onwards, the third party review for the first half will be discontinued.

As a result of the discontinuation of the EEV disclosure reports for the first half, some detail analyses of EEV (including sensitivity analyses of EEV to changes in some assumptions) will be available once per year. The results of those analyses are unlikely to change significantly in a short time period, thus the Company believes the discontinuation will not be inconvenient for investors. Moreover, the Company has concluded that the third-party review for the first half is no longer necessary, due to its long history of disclosing EEV.

The Company will continue to publish the EEV disclosure reports for the full fiscal year with the attachment of a third party opinion as in previous years.
