Cooperation Stuttgart Opera and Mercedes-Benz Museum: Double première for seat cushion concerts of the Stuttgart Opera

The stage is set for music theatre, where little children get to be really close to the action: In the cafeteria on Level 8 of the Mercedes-Benz Museum, the new seat cushion concert of the Stuttgart Young Opera with musicians of the state orchestra will début on 6 May 2017. On the programme at 2 pm and 3:30 pm are performances of LITTLE I AM ME based on the famous children's book by Mira Lobe. Elena Tzavara, the new director of the Stuttgart Young Opera, realises the imaginative musical narrative theatre by Elisabeth Naske about identity and confidence in dramaturgical style. For the first time, the seat cushion concerts can be experienced by children as young as two, and outside the Stuttgart Opera House. The concerts in the museum are already sold out. Stuttgart. Life is beautiful in this colourful world - as beautiful as the music. This also makes a small multi-coloured animal happy as it wanders through a field of flowers. If it weren't for the question: 'Who are you?' the other animals ask. Because the little hero of the musical by Elisabeth Naske (text by Mira Lobe, book idea and artwork by Susi Weigel) does not know the answer at first: He has windblown hair, but is not a horse. Despite having short, powerful legs, he is not a hippopotamus. And his long ears alone don't make him a dachshund either. Is the multi-coloured animal (Severin Gmünder) therefore just a 'small someone'? The true answer to this question is an entirely different one, however. It not only boosts the confidence of the little creature, it also embodies the joy of life and of the diversity of nature.

This charming story comes to life in the seat cushion concerts of the Stuttgart Opera in the Mercedes-Benz Museum on 6 May 2017 at 2 pm and at 3:30 pm. The performances with music of the Stuttgart State Orchestra run for about 30 minutes each. An arts and crafts session on the subject of the seat cushion concert starts 30 minutes before each concert. After the concert, the focus is on the instruments the little listeners just experienced: Clarinettist Stefanie Faber, cellist Edwina Ionescu, and accordion player Viktor Janzer invite the children to explore the instruments and try them out themselves.
