In 1989 when the first MercedesTrophy was held, six European countries took part. 25 years later, the MercedesTrophy is now a global invitation-only tournament series for amateurs, staged in over 60 countries. There are now more than 60,000 participants every year - and over the years nearly a million customers and fans of the brand have teed off at the MercedesTrophy.

The Nations Cup at the 2014 anniversary event was won by the team from Latina with 185 points overall. Second place went to the team from United Kingdom with 182 points, followed by the team from China with 181 points. The Team Spirit Award, the winner of which is chosen by the participants, was presented to the team from Australia.

The highest individual points scores in the MercedesTrophy World Final were achieved by the following players: the overall winner, with 64 points, was Josh Bunch from Team USA. The best result in Class A, with 73 points, was achieved by Felipe Montenegro from Team Latina. Class B was won by Nick Lawrence from the United Kingdom with 72 points, while Oleg Pavlichenko from Team Central Eastern Europe won Class C with 73 points. "The World Final is an excellent opportunity for us to welcome customers from all over the world to Stuttgart, the home of our brand", explained member of the Divisional Board Mercedes-Benz Cars, Marketing & Sales. "This anniversary event delivered some stunning performances on the course, plenty of interesting off-course activities and culminating in a well-deserved win by the team from Latina. Congratulations to everyone who took part!"

Mercedes-Benz brand ambassador Martin Kaymer, the face of the MercedesTrophy, came to Stuttgart on Monday directly from the Ryder Cup to present the trophies at the award ceremony. Brand ambassadors Bernhard Langer and Louis Oosthuizen also attended the World Final, taking part in special "Beat the pro" challenges against the participants and chatting with them in a series of "Meet & Greet" sessions.

Alongside their sporting activities, the participants were able to experience the brand and its products at close hand with guided tours of the Mercedes-Benz Museum, the Sindelfingen plant and Mercedes-AMG in Affalterbach, as well as test drives in the latest models. The highlight vehicle of this year's MercedesTrophy World Final was the new S-Class S 63 AMG Coupé, which was presented on the last evening by Ola Källenius, Head of Sales and Marketing for the Mercedes-Benz Cars business unit.

Those participating in the MercedesTrophy World Final were battling for the final place in this year's special competition "Drive to the Major", which was ultimately won by Oleg Pavlichenko from Team Central Eastern Europe. Everyone who takes part in the MercedesTrophy worldwide also has the chance of participating in another unique golfing event. Contestants can win a place in the qualification tournament for the "Monday After Event" in the "Straightest Drive" competition. As the official patron of the oldest golf tournament in the world, Mercedes-Benz is able to offer the chance to tee off on the course where, just a day before, the professional golfers were vying for victory. Furthermore, the winners get to experience the Open Championship as Mercedes-Benz VIP guests.

This year too, donations have been collected at all MercedesTrophy tournaments held so far for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. In the World Final there was also a special ranking for the "Laureus Longest Drive". Mercedes-Benz is a founder member of the foundation, which tackles social

challenges worldwide using funds raised through sport. It currently sponsors more than 150 social projects worldwide, primarily aimed at helping children and young people affected by poverty, homelessness, war, violence, drug misuse, discrimination and AIDS.
