Take a comfortable seat! For example, in the S 516 HDH of the TopClass 500
An S 516 HDH of the TopClass 500 embodies contemporary elegance and sophisticated vehicle technology in Kortrijk. The vehicles of this model series debuted in spring 2014. With the premium three-axle models, the brand presents a new travel experience which blends luxury and functionality at the highest level - with even more lengths. The 12.5-m S 515 HDH, the S 516 HDH with a length of 13.3 m plus the 14.2-m S 517 HDH embody the design, value appeal and safety aspects in a unique way and form. Enlarged wheelbases compared with the predecessor model series ensure a luggage compartment volume enlarged by 0.6 m3 for all three variants. In the interior, the passengers relax on comfortable chair-like seats and enjoy a superior travel experience with a widened TopSky Panorama glass roof, homogeneous climate control and a new lighting concept. They are the flagships of the Setra product range that also convince renowned designers. The Setra TopClass 500 touring coaches were already honoured with the 'Red Dot Product Design Award 2014', one of the world's most coveted quality seals for outstanding design.
The S 516 HDH on display in Kortrijk has a lot to offer and features two innovations in the interior. The passengers can get comfortable in the three-axle vehicle painted smoke silver metallic on 48 Setra Ambassador seats fitted with innovative luxury head restraints. This mean sheer relaxation because the height of the saddle head restraints is infinitely adjustable by up to 85 mm and the side bolsters can be folded forward by up to 90 degrees. The seats of the touring coach equipped with a TopSky glass roof are covered with a material called 'Composition' made of leather fibres that is hard-wearing, abrasion-resistant and easy to clean. This new upholstery material is superior to the natural leather used previously with regard to the described characteristics.
Drivers too enjoy maximum comfort in the ergonomically styled cockpit. They can steer the Setra with a multifunction steering wheel wrapped in leather.
24 USB ports with built-in charging function ensure that passengers never run out of power for their personal electronic devices, not even on longer journeys.
World premiere: LED main headlamps in a touring coach
A new feature is the availability of optional LED main headlamps for the TopClass. The light cone of LED headlamps can be defined with special precision. The colour temperature approximates that of daylight and reduces eye strain for the driver. LED lamps are about two to three times more efficient than conventional incandescent bulbs and therefore reduce energy consumption noticeably. Last but not least, the LEDs have a service life about as long as that of the vehicle itself and replacing the lamps is therefore usually no longer required.
An electronic tyre pressure control system and Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) can elevate the level of safety even further. This anticipatory cruise control system with the world's first automatic speed control for touring coaches with integrated transmission intervention has proven to reduce fuel consumption by up to four percent. The S 516 HDH is equipped with the 12.8-litre OM 471 six-cylinder in-line engine rated at 375 kW (510 hp) and with the automated GO 250-8 PowerShift eight-speed transmission.
S 431 DT - a real giant on the long-distance regular-service routes
They are the largest in the Setra product range. The S 431 DT double-decker coaches with a Euro VI powertrain of the 'Blue Efficiency Power' engine generation continue to be integral components of the current product range. These Setra TopClass 400 buses boast more than 40 new features compared with their Euro V predecessors. These include a revised cockpit with a new multifunction steering wheel, two staircases as standard and a luggage compartment door that is 23 cm wider. The popularity of the three-axle vehicle in Europe is demonstrated by a proud number. Italian bus operator 'Autolinee Marino' took possession of the 2500th doubler-decker Setra made in Neu-Ulm just a few weeks ago. The anniversary bus was also the 250th vehicle of this model equipped with a Euro VI engine.
Thanks to its Setra S 431 DT double-decker coach, Daimler is also a compelling choice when it comes to long-distance regular-service transport. With a market share of more than 50 percent, the Stuttgart-based company is the leading player in the German long-distance bus market. Demand has led to rapid growth in the double-decker segment in particular. Here the Setra S 431 DT is the dominant force on German roads with a share of more than 80 percent.
The doubler-decker is also in demand among the operators of long-distance regular-service routes on account of its high seating capacity. The four-star TopClass 400 coach on display in Belgium offers seating for 80 passengers, which can also relax at two club tables on the lower deck and can enjoy the trip from one city to another with a coffee from the galley. The touring coach is equipped with a telephone system with two phones, one in the driver's area and one on the upper deck. Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with a video monitoring system, a heated lavatory and a larger waste-holding tank. Under the bonnet is a Euro VI Mercedes-Benz OM 471 six-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 12.8 l rated at 375 kW (510 hp) and delivering a torque of 2500 Nm. Power is transferred by the fully automated GO 250-8 eight-speed PowerShift transmission.
Fitted with two wheelchair bays, the S 431 DT already complies with the new rules of the Public Transport Act (PBefG), which will require this extra available space in new vehicles operating in long-distance regular-service transport starting in 2016.
S 511 HD - exclusive club bus with face-to-face seating

Exactly 60 years after the world premiere of the first Setra compact bus, an S 6 introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1955, visitors to this year's Busworld show can get an idea of what a modern bus all has to offer for exclusive club journeys or excursions. The S 511 HD is a member of the Setra ComfortClass 500 presented in 2012, which in a spectacular Record Run event has demonstrated maximum energy efficiency with fuel savings of 8.2 percent over the reference model.
Just a year after its market launch, this innovative generation of coaches was voted 'Coach of the Year 2014' on top of receiving the 'Green Coach Award 2014' in recognition of its low fuel consumption. In the autumn of 2014, Setra presented another four vehicles of the ComfortClass 500, which means that the model series is now complete with a total of eight models. Setra delivered the 500th vehicle of the ComfortClass 500 to a German customer just a few short weeks ago.

They can relax on Setra Voyage Ambassador seats - and do so also seated face to face, because the touring coach of the ComfortClass 500 is equipped with two club tables. The S 511 HD facilitates reversing at night for the driver with LED surround lighting. The chauffeur works in a climate-controlled cockpit. Fast and convenient access to the controls, an optimised seating position, an ergonomically improved, suspended pedal system and improved overall visibility make the driver's work easier. The centrepiece of the newly designed cockpit is the high-resolution colour display with four round gauges indicating the vehicle speed, the engine speed as well as the current fuel and AdBlue levels.
The coach is powered by the strong OM 470 six-cylinder in-line Euro VI engine rated at 290 kW (394 hp) in conjunction with the automated GO 250-8 PowerShift eight-speed transmission.
Functional and economical - the S 415 LE business
