Around World Blood Donation Day on June 14, a total of 1,700 E.ON-employees throughout Europe donated blood. The fact that so many employees agreed to this was the result of an international blood donation campaign throughout the company. The motto was: '#missingtype', which has existed since 2015 and which many companies join every year.

The annual #missingtype-campaign was launched in the UK with the aim of stopping the decline in the number of blood donors. On average, 28 percent fewer people worldwide donate today than ten years ago. E.ON was the only German company to support #missingtype group-wide, in all countries and at all locations.

E.ON's commitment has not only become visible internally, but also externally: To raise awareness of the importance of blood donations, E.ON, like many other companies, removed the 'O' from its logo during the week from June 11 to 15, 2018.

Every second, three blood transfusions are done worldwide: 54 percent for treatment purposes and blood diseases such as cancer, 33 percent during surgery, 5 percent during childbirth.

'Commitment to blood donation means taking on social responsibility. E.ON's Europe-wide involvement and numerous blood donations around the #missingtype campaign have shown what we all stand for. We would like to thank all employees at E.ON', said Thomas Bödeker, Commercial Director, Blood Donation Service West of the German Red Cross.
