RobecoSAM, a leading expert in sustainable investment, regularly examines the efforts companies are putting into sustainable development. It has now published its latest results in the Sustainability Yearbook 2017. For this year's publication RobecoSAM has assessed the sustainability performance of some 2,500 companies from across 60 different industries. The assessment looks at 25 sustainability criteria from the areas of environment, social engagement and company management. Only 15 percent of the companies reviewed make it into the publication.

The Assessment by RobecoSAM (DJSI) found that E.ON had significantly improved its performance. Consequently, it was again included this year and was even promoted from bronze to silver status.

E.ON also received the Industry Mover Award 2017, which is presented to the company that ranks among the best 15 percent in its industrial sector and has showed the biggest improvement from the previous year.

Frank Plümacher, who heads E.ON's Sustainability & HSSE division, said: 'We see sustainability as part of our strategy and our promise to customers. That's why we never actually achieve our target because our sustainability strategy is aimed at constantly striving for improvement. We do not only want to meet the expectations customers, investors and society have placed on energy companies such as E.ON but also want to make a verifiable contribution to sustainable development. That's why we are proud to see our activities reflected in the excellent score achieved in 2016.'
