• High-tech, safe and quick; all-new Commodore enlisted to join South Australian Police ranks.
  • 2018 marks 70 years of Holden supplying police vehicles to South Australia.

Holden's all-new ZB Commodore has blitzed exhaustive test drive comparisons run by SA Police with the first new RS V6 All Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicles joining the police fleet this week.

Holden expects to supply more than 100 of the new high-tech Commodores as general duty and highway patrol cars to SA Police. Holden has been supplying the majority of police vehicles in South Australia since 1948 and the latest Commodore will continue that tradition.

'SA Police have run an exhaustive comparison of vehicles from every manufacturer and we're proud our latest Commodore has once again proven its credentials when it comes to vehicle safety, specifications, durability, dynamics, performance and importantly manufacturer and servicing support,' Holden's Director of Sales, Peter Keley, said.

'Holden's Australian engineers have worked collaboratively with SA Police to ensure this vehicle meets the leading safety and performance requirements needed for modern policing and importantly to ensure it is the safest vehicle possible to protect their frontline officers.'

The 2018 Commodore RS V6 AWD has a maximum five-star ANCAP safety rating with standout safety features including an 'active hood' or pedestrian protection system, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and Lane Keep Assist to name just a few.

'This is the most technologically-advanced Holden ever,' Mr Keley said. 'The 3.6-litre V6 is a world-class engine and, when paired to our new smart adaptive All Wheel Drive system, there's a level of traction never seen or felt in a Commodore before. Our Holden engineers know what Australian drivers - and police officers - expect from driving a Commodore and this vehicle delivers.

'We're proud to see the new Commodore wearing the South Australian Police livery and look forward to seeing it in action on roads across South Australia.

'I'm sure members of the SA Police will enjoy driving it as much as we do.'

The new ZB Commodores will be gradually deployed as part of a South Australian fleet upgrade over the next two years.
