Sanjiv Mehta, MD and CEO, HUL, along with Shri Rameswar Teli, MP Dibrugarh, Shri Pradan Baruah, MP Lakhimpur, Shri Suren Phukan, MLA Digboi constituency, Shri Sanjoy Kishan, MLA Tinsukia constituency, and Shri Bolin Chetia, MLA Sadiya constituency were present.

On this occasion, HUL presented a cheque of Rs. 1 crore to the Assam CM Relief Fund, for the flood affected people in Assam.

The new factory, that will manufacture products for leading HUL brands, such as Fair & Lovely, Pond's, Vaseline, Sunsilk, Clinic Plus, TRESemme & Dove, commenced commercial production on March 15th, 2017. The new unit will augment the production capacity of Personal Care products significantly, making the factory a strategic sourcing site for the company. HUL, along with its partners has invested Rs 1000 crores in the project.

HUL is actively working on increasing the footprint of its suppliers in the state of Assam through several supplier integration initiatives. These will help in increasing the material supply capability in the region. HUL is working with NGOs and local authorities to set up the necessary infrastructure that will help impart employable skills to the local youth and enhance livelihoods of local people.

HUL has had a long-standing manufacturing presence in Doom Dooma ever since 2001. Currently, there are three manufacturing units that manufacture Personal Care products such as shampoos, skin creams, lotions and toothpaste and this new unit is the fourth unit.
