LyondellBasell Industries : Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer Jeffrey A. Kaplan honored with 'Legend in Law' award

HOUSTON, May 23, 2018/PRNewswire/ -- Jeffrey A. Kaplan, executive vice president and chief legal officer at LyondellBasell (NYSE:LYB), one of the largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies in the world, has been named a 'Legend in Law' winner at the 2018 Burton Awards for Legal Achievement.
The 'Legend in Law' awards are given to general counsels who demonstrate a lifetime of achievement, abide by high ethical standards and are respected by the broader legal community.
'Without a doubt, Jeff is one of the best in his field and exemplifies the highest standards for integrity, sound legal counsel and knowledge of the law,' said Bob Patel, CEO of LyondellBasell. 'Jeff is very deserving of this recognition.'
The award was presented in Washington, D.C.in association with the Library of Congress and sponsored by the American Bar Association and industry publication Law360.
Kaplan joined LyondellBasell in December 2009and has served as the company's executive vice president and chief legal officer since May 2015. In this role, he is also responsible for the company's public affairs function. Previously, he served in a variety of leadership roles at Chevron Phillips Chemical Company and was in private law practice in Houston, Texas. Kaplan earned a Bachelor of Science from Amherst Collegeand a Juris Doctor from the University of TexasSchool of Law.

LyondellBasell Industries N.V. is one of the world's largest chemical groups. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- production of olefins and polyolefin (50.2%): ethylene, propylene, butadiene, polypropylene components, etc.;
- manufacturing of intermediate chemical products (21.6%): propylene oxide, acetyl, ethanol, ethylene oxide, etc.;
- refining of highly sulfide crude oil (15.6%): activity ensured in the Gulf Coast region of the United States. The group also produces oxy-fuel;
- manufacturing of advanced polymer solutions (11.1%): polypropylene compounds, engineering plastics, composite materials, advanced polymers, etc. ;
- development of chemical and polyolefin process technologies (1.5%). The group also manufactures polyolefin catalysts.
At the end of 2021, the group had 34 production sites worldwide.
Net sales break down geographically as follows: the Netherlands (3%), the United States (48.8%), Germany (7.4%), China (5%), Italy (4%), Mexico (3.4%), Japan (3.1%), France (3%), Poland (2.5%) and other (19.8%).
