Peter Vanacker, CEO of LyondellBasell, discusses the outlook for global demand for chemicals and plastics. He looks back on the Group's very good Q3 and the strong performance of the oxyfuels business. With regard to demand by region, Vanacker forecasts a slow recovery in China, a difficult situation in Europe, and robust demand in the United States thanks to an advantageous cost position. He expects a slight recovery in the automotive sector and a gradual improvement in construction and furniture, especially in the second half of next year. Finally, he mentions the Group's investment in advanced recycling technology in Germany.
