The Garyville, Louisiana, refinery recently donated $7,500 to St. John's Sheriff's Office's Body Armor Fund. Sheriff Mike Tregre of the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office said he was 'honored' to receive support from the local Louisiana partner.

'In 2012, there was a massive flooding here and MPC decided to donate thousands of dollars to the people impacted,' said Garyville refinery Community Relations Representative Aspen Murphy. 'Part of those donations went to St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office for body armor vests. Body armor vests expire every five years, so we donated this time for more vests after the previous expiration.'

Refining General Manager Tracy Case said, 'Local law enforcement does so much to keep our community safe, it is a great feeling to be able to help them stay safe as well.'
