MNRB Bhd : TARGETS TO CREATE MULTIPLICITY PROFESSIONALS IN INSURANCE AND TAKAFUL

Kuala Lumpur, 4 June 2014 - MNRB has awarded scholarships to thirty-four (34) students to pursue various insurance-related courses under its annual MNRB Scholarship Fund today. En Mohd Din Merican, President & GCEO of MNRB and also Member of the Board of Trustee of the MNRB Scholarship Fund presented the scholarships at a ceremony held at Bangunan Malaysian Re in Damansara Heights.

"One of the main objectives of the Fund is to assist in the development of the nation's insurance and takaful industries by enabling promising students to have access to quality education. With this, it is our aspiration to produce quality insurance and takaful professionals for the long term development of the Malaysian insurance and takaful industries", said Encik Mohd Din Merican at the ceremony. 

Out of thirty-four (34) recipients, fifteen (15) are full-time students who will pursue undergraduate studies in Actuarial Science, Risk Management and Insurance at local and foreign universities. With these fifteen (15) scholarships, the Fund has sponsored a total of 389 students since 1998.

The other nineteen (19) are employees of local insurance and takaful companies pursuing Diploma or Associateship of the Malaysian Insurance Institute professional exams at The Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII) in Kuala Lumpur.

MNRB has been collaborating with MII under its DMII/AMII MNRB Scholarship Fund programme since 2007. Today's presentation of scholarship marks the 8th batch of DMII/AMII MNRB Scholarship offered to aspiring professionals from the local insurance industry undertaking the professional qualification offered by MII. Through this collaboration, 191 students from the industry have been sponsored under the Fund.

This is just one of the many contributions that MNRB has put forward to the Malaysian insurance industry in providing assistance to produce more competent and qualified professionals in our local insurance industry.
