Transurban Queensland today announced it had signed agreements with the receivers of BrisConnections for the acquisition of Brisbane's AirportlinkM7 for $1.87 billion plus stamp duty and other costs.
Transurban Queensland Group General Manager Wes Ballantine said the acquisition enhances its existing go via network of toll roads in Brisbane which includes the Gateway and Logan motorways, Go Between Bridge and Legacy Way.
'AirportlinkM7 is a quality urban asset which is adjacent to three of our existing toll roads in Brisbane. It provides efficient connections between the Brisbane Airport and the Australia TradeCoast along with the CBD, and Brisbane's northern, southern and western suburbs,' he said.
Mr Ballantine said Transurban Queensland was uniquely positioned to realise the potential of the AirportLinkM7 and provide a seamless experience and tolling service for Brisbane motorists.
'The addition of the AirportlinkM7 to our go via network is a great outcome for Brisbane motorists as it provides a unique opportunity to drive enhanced customer service and network management,' he said.
'We will use our experience and expertise in managing toll roads within Australia and the United States to provide a more consistent and efficient customer experience for Brisbane motorists.
'The change in ownership will be seamless for motorists. Customers don't need to do a thing, they can continue to travel and transact as they now.'
Completion of the sale process is expected to take place in early 2016 at which time Transurban Queensland will assume responsibility for the tunnel operation.
