Transurban : Community in the driver's seat to shape Heathwood Community Development

The EOI process will run from 22 May to 30 June 2017, inviting submissions to determine the most appropriate use for a 6,500mparcel of vacant land located at the Logan Motorway and Stapylton Road interchange at Heathwood.

Transurban Queensland Group General Manager Wes Ballantine said he was excited to see the community steer the outcome of the Heathwood Community Development and encouraged all local residents to have their say.

'The Heathwood Community Development is a terrific opportunity to revitalise an unused site to benefit local residents by addressing community needs,' Mr Ballantine said.

'We encourage all local community groups, charities and residents who may be interested in utilising the site to put forward a submission and have their say on how the site should be developed.

'By starting with a blank canvas and seeking local community input we can ensure the Heathwood Community Development provides a lasting legacy with long-term benefit to residents in whatever form it takes.'

Earlier this year Transurban Queensland announced the establishment of the Heathwood Reference Group, consisting of local elected representatives and community stakeholders, to guide the project and ensure the proposed site use effectively addresses community needs.

The Heathwood Community Development is Transurban Queensland's first roadside regeneration project and forms part of Transurban's sustainability program.

The project is expected to commence construction in mid-2018 and be open for public use by late 2018.
