During the Milan Design Week 2018, the world's premier design event, Stahl will showcase how new mobility meets interior design. As a car interior expert, Stahl has joined forces with Swiss mobility visionary Rinspeed and various interior partners to create the 2018 Rinspeed Snap concept car. The Snap concept addresses the new demands that come with megatrends such as autonomous driving. Stahl contributed to the car's interior with various innovative, sustainable solutions.

'Self-driving cars, stuffed with IT components, will help solve transport problems in urban areas in the foreseeable future,' says Frank M. Rinderknecht, CEO at Rinspeed. 'To this end, we have designed an elaborate and unparalleled mobility ecosystem in our latest concept car, which highlights the car as an actual third living space of the future. Obviously, interior design has a crucial role to play in the future of mobility. That is why we wanted to work with a global player in the car interior industry that would bring something extra to the table. Stahl's vision, solutions and the innovative materials used do just that.'

Future demands
'As a car interior expert and worldwide market leader in our field, we believe that design thinking can help bridge the gap between industries and create innovative surface solutions for the era of New Mobility,' says Stefan Buri, Global Marketing Director Automotive at Stahl. 'Our partnerships with market-leading companies along the entire automotive interior value chain are a key enabling factor in terms of unlocking new innovative potential and freedom in design for designers and manufacturers.'

Clean interior
To contribute to the best possible interior harmony inside the Rinspeed Snap, Stahl created a premium look and feel that ensures a clean interior, both aesthetically as in terms of well-being. Stay Clean technology was applied, for instance, to protect the car's upholstery against dirt and stains. The leather used in the car was tanned with a technology called Stahl EasyWhite Tan™. This solution has major sustainability credentials, reducing water, salt and energy consumption during the leather manufacturing process. At the Milan Design Week, Stahl will showcase and elaborate on all VOC-free solutions used in the Rinspeed Snap, befitting a premium sustainable car of the future.
