Welcomes Seven New York State Artists and Makers to LOCAL program

What:
Brooklyn, NY-based home furnishings retailer West Elm will open
its ninth New York store in Rochester on Thursday, July 23, 2015
at 10:00 a.m. The 10,600-square-foot store will open at Culver
Road Armory with West Elm’s fall assortment and suite of
complimentary design services. Crafted goods from seven New
York-based artists and makers will be featured as part of West
Elm’s LOCAL
initiative.
To celebrate the opening, West Elm has partnered with New York-based
artist, Annemarie Buckley of Scout’s Honor Paper to design a limited
edition tote bag, which will be gifted to the first 300 shoppers
with a $50 minimum purchase. Additional store opening activities
include a sweepstakes* offering local customers a chance to win a
$2,000 gift card and an invitation to a pre-opening celebration on
Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Studio: A Rochester-based creative optimist who packages
designs for posters, web and video projects
• Scout’s
Honor Paper: A stationery and design studio who aims to bring
bold colors and clean shapes to its versatile cards
• The
Greater Goods: A soap making studio that explores the
sculptural and sensorial elements of cold-process soap
• Wrafterbuilt
Furniture: A custom carpentry and design studio that
handcrafts furniture and fixtures made from reclaimed materials in
Buffalo, NY

restored military armory built in 1916. The building boasts exposed,
original brick walls with traces of exposed truss, brace and beam
