Thomas Cook Group subsidiary Condor could be interested in taking over the whole of Air Berlin (AB, Berlin Tegel). News site BZ Berlin reports that Condor representatives are currently examining Air Berlin's books. However, its official stance is more circumspect.

A German businessman joined the field of potentialbidders for insolvent Air Berlin on September 4, 2017, proposing to focus on only a few routes to holiday destinations. Air Berlin filed for bankruptcy protection in August after shareholder Etihad Airways withdrew funding following years of losses. Deutsche Lufthansa Aktiengesellschaft (DB:LHA) has government backing to take over large parts of Air Berlin.

EasyJet and Thomas Cook's Condor are also seen as likely bidders.
