Avient Corporation (NYSE:AVNT) is in the process of selling its production plant in Lockport, N.Y., which closed earlier this year. "We are currently in discussions with several parties interested in purchasing and repurposing the Lockport facility," a spokesperson for Avon Lake, Ohio-based Avient said in a Sept. 6 email to Plastics News.

At a recent meeting of the Lockport Industrial Development Agency, officials said that bids for the site were due to Avient in early August. The Avient spokesman said that the firm stopped production at the site ? which made carbon black color concentrates ?

in March. All of the site's 12 employees were offered relocation assistance if they chose to transfer or other benefits to help them transition to future employment opportunities, the spokesperson added. Production from Lockport was moved mostly to an Avient plant in Vonore, Tenn.

The spokesperson said that move allows Avient to "better utilize existing capacity in our footprint".
