(Alliance News) - Shares in Centaur Media PLC shot up on Wednesday, after the company said it had received interest from a Dutch investment fund manager for an all-share acquisition of the company.

Centaur Media is a London-based business consultancy group, with a market capitalisation of GBP81.1 million. Shares in the company were up 40% at 55.80 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.

This came after Centaur said it had received a "highly preliminary expression of interest" from Waterland Private Equity Investments BV to acquire the company's entire issued and to be issued share capital.

Waterland is a Bussum, Netherlands-based alternative investment fund manager, with a cross-market portfolio of companies from across Europe.

Centaur cautioned that there is no certainty an offer will be made, and said that a further announcement will be made "when appropriate".
