  • I will be discussing the following matters today:
    • Efforts to support the next generation
    • Initiatives to create a resource-recycling community
Efforts to support the next generation
  • First, I would like to discuss our efforts to support the next generation.
  • As an energy company, it is our important role to provide the next generation, who will be the leaders of the future, with learning opportunities and opportunities to deepen their knowledge of energy and the environment, and we are implementing a variety of initiatives to support the next generation.
  • Today, I would like to introduce our efforts to support the next generation, including new projects that will be rolled out this spring.
  • The first is initiatives featuring Sota Fujii Ryuoh Meijin, a member of Japan Shogi Association, with whom we have concluded an advertising contract.
TV commercials featuring Sota Fujii Ryuoh Meijin, will begin airing on March 15. Through the image of Sota Fujii Ryuoh Meijin, who continues to make dedicated efforts, we hope to convey to a wide range of people our company's support for those who courageously take a step forward.
In conjunction with the TV commercial, a Call for Questions to Sota Fujii Ryuoh Meijin Campaign will also be launched, and Q&A videos and the behind-the-scenes of commercial videos will be available on a special website.
On March 20, Chuden Children's Shogi Tournament for elementary school students living in the Chubu area will be held jointly with Japan Shogi Association at Higashisakura Kaikan, with special guest speaker Sota Fujii Ryuoh Meijin.
  • The second is about education for the next generation in cooperation with the Group companies.
As collaborative events with Techno Chubu, a workshop to learn about the bones of living creatures will be held at the Electricity Museum on March 16, and a drone piloting experience provided by Chubuseiki will be held on August 11.
  • The third is a renewal of the website for the next generation.
In late March of this year, we will renew the pages on our website for the next generation where they can learn "this and that about electricity," including the mechanism of electricity, and enrich the contents for them to enjoy and learn more.
  • The fourth is to make the exhibits at the Electricity Museum available in multiple languages.
The Electricity Museum has been visited by a total of 16.6 million people to date. As visitors become more global, English and Chinese will be added to the explanations of the exhibits in late March of this year, with the aim of creating a PR exhibition hall accessible to a larger number of next generation visitors.

  • Next, I would like to discuss the current status of our major efforts to support the next generation.
  • The first is the Chuden Wall Newspaper.
Since 1951, when the company was founded, we have been publishing the Chuden Wall Newspaper. 773 issues have been published to date and delivered to approximately 3,000 locations, including elementary schools in the Chubu area.
We will continue to publish newspapers that provide children with not only knowledge about electricity, but also about space, living creatures, sports, and other topics that they can enjoy learning about.
  • The second is the delivery classes.
Our employees and the staff of the Electricity Museum visit elementary and junior high schools to conduct delivery classes, where students learn about energy, environment, etc., together in a fun way through experiments and quizzes. To date, more than 150,000 elementary and junior high school students have participated in the program, which has been well received not only by the children but also by their teachers.

  • The Group will continue to promote activities that lead to the sustainable development of the community and society by actively supporting the next generation, the future leaders of the region, through the dissemination of information on energy and the environment and the holding of events that will trigger interest in science.
Initiatives to create a resource-recycling community
  • Next, I would like to talk about our initiatives to realize the creation of a resource-recycling community.
  • Chubu Electric Power and ECOMMIT Co., Ltd. ( hereinafter "ECOMMIT") today signed an agreement for a business collaboration for the realization of resource-recycling community development.
  • Under the vision of "Linking all essentials and non-essentials. Creating a sustainable society." and based on more than 15 years of expertise, ECOMMIT is developing a resource recycling system in Japan that collects, sorts, and redistributes unwanted items that would otherwise be thrown away, and is aiming to promote international resource recycling by expanding its bases overseas in the future.
  • Based on this agreement, Chubu Electric Power and ECOMMIT will successively launch initiatives that leverage our strengths and existing services as one of the "infrastructures supporting a resource-recycling lifestyle" in the Chubu area.
  • There are three initiatives based on the agreement. The first initiative is installation of collection boxes for unwanted items at facilities related to the Group, and proposal for people in Chubu area.
Unwanted item collection boxes for ECOMMIT's resource recycling service PASSTO will be installed at two locations: KatEne Shop, the Group's PR facility, and Tonarie Yokkaichi, a commercial facility.
Through PASSTO, we will launch a reuse/recycle service to collect unwanted clothing and general goods.
We will utilize the Chubu Electric Power Group's ties to the local community to propose the introduction of PASSTO to companies and other entities in the Chubu area, thereby expanding the circle of our initiatives.
  • The second is collection of unwanted items utilizing the Group's EC service.
Using Chubu Electric Power Miraiz Connect's service as a contact point, Chubu Electric Power will collect unwanted clothing and general goods from members of the service, and ECOMMIT will reuse and recycle them in the same manner as unwanted items collected by PASSTO.
  • The third is proposal for reused item collection service for municipalities in the Chubu area.
For municipalities in the Chubu area, we will propose a scheme to sort and reuse reusable items from bulky and other refuse collected by the municipalities.
  • In these initiatives, the status of collection, sorting, and redistribution is tracked and visualized by data using ECOMMIT's traceability system, providing a high recycling rate framework with high transparency.
  • Through these initiatives, we hope not only to reduce waste by reusing resources, but also to contribute to raising environmental awareness by directly involving local residents.
  • In cooperation with various partners, Chubu Electric Power and ECOMMIT will continue to work toward the realization of a resource-recycling community development in the Chubu area and, in the future, will aim to create an international resource-recycling mechanism.
  • In the Management Vision 2.0 announced in November 2021, the Group has positioned the resource recycling business as a priority field for realizing "optimal recycling of energy and resources" and "safe and secure lifestyles" toward 2030, and is promoting various initiatives.
  • We took a stake in Terrarem Group in December 2021, and in the Chubu area, we are studying the construction of biogas power generation and plastic recycling facilities that will make effective use of unused local resources.
  • In June 2023, we concluded a collaborative agreement with Hekinan City regarding the study of resource recycling business, etc., and are proceeding with studies on the construction and operation of a waste incineration facility that maximizes the use of waste generated in the region as a biomass resource, and on the local production and local consumption of renewable energy produced by the local biomass.
  • The Chubu Electric Power Group will continue to make every effort, including the agreement with ECOMMIT, to realize a resource-recycling society as set forth in our Management Vision 2.0.
  • This ends my presentation.
