Alchemy Partners LLP on January 22, 2021 said it will not make an offer for domestic property group Countrywide Plc (LON:CWD), which has agreed to be acquired by rival Connells Ltd. in an improved deal worth £223.1 Million($304.9 Million/€250.4 Million) including debt. Alchemy, which late last year struck a £90 million recapitalisation deal with struggling Countrywide, did not provide further details in its statement. Countrywide, meanwhile, set February 15, 2021 as the date for its shareholders to vote on the proposed deal with Connells, which was inked on December 31, 2020. In early January 2021 Alchemy announced that a group of Countrywide shareholders, including Hosking Partners LLP and OCM Luxembourg Castle Holdings, has rescinded their support.
