(Alliance News) - Henderson European Focus Trust PLC on Thursday said that Co-Fund Manager John Bennett plans to retire from the London-based investment trust at the end of August next year.

Bennett has spent 13 years as a manager of Henderson, but now plans to step down from the asset management industry, Henderson said.

In the meantime, Bennett will continue to work closely with both Co-Fund Manager Tom O'Hara and the company's board as part of a well-considered succession plan. O'Hara will continue as co-fund manager of the company, once Bennett steps down.

Henderson noted that there will be no change to its investment process "which has delivered outperformance in most market conditions over many years".

Chair Vicky Hastings said: "John works with and has led a very strong investment team with an excellent investment process. We are confident that this will continue for HEFT. We have worked closely with Tom as co-fund manager for three years, and have John in place for a final year, so we are confident about the succession and continued support for the company."

Shares in Henderson were down 0.4% to 164.43 pence each in London on Thursday morning.
