Jack in the Box Inc. has partnered with Qu to modernize its Jack in the Box and Del Taco restaurants with a cloud-based unified commerce platform. This technology aims to increase digital sales, improve efficiency and enhance the customer experience across all ordering channels, according to a press release.

Key features of the Qu platform include:

  • Multi-brand support: The platform can handle the distinct needs of both Jack in the Box and Del Taco.
  • Omnichannel ordering: Customers can seamlessly order through various channels, with Qu managing order fulfillment in the kitchen.
  • 24/7 availability: The system is designed for continuous operation, critical for Jack in the Box's high-volume drive-thru business.
  • Real-time data and analytics: Qu's Notify app provides franchisees with insights on sales, labor, and inventory to optimize operations.

Jack in the Box and Del Taco should see increased digital sales, as the company aims to reach 20% digital sales by 2026. Qu's integrated system streamlines ordering, kitchen prep and reporting as well, said Niko Papademetriou, co-founder of Qu. Features like digital menu boards and potentially AI-powered voice ordering aim to improve convenience, and its Notify app empowers franchisees with data-driven decision-making for better staff scheduling and inventory management.

"Jack in the Box's business never stops. Their commerce platform needs to be available to their customers and franchisees all day, every day, on every channel — drive thru, kiosk, in-store, tablets and especially online," Papademetriou said in the press release. "Our platform was built with this exact scenario in mind. With this partnership, Qu demonstrates unified commerce in the cloud at scale for a true multi-thousand, multi-brand, 24×7 QSR."

Jack in the Box Inc., founded and headquartered in San Diego, operates and franchises Jack in the Box with approximately 2,200 restaurants across 21 states as well as 600 Del Taco restaurants in 16 states.
