(Alliance News) - Leonardo Spa and Rete Ferroviaria Italiana announced Monday that they have signed a collaboration agreement to implement a shared project in the area of military mobility.

Military mobility is an EU initiative aimed at augmenting existing infrastructure and digital capabilities to ensure the movement of military assets, within and outside Europe, even at short notice and on a large scale, ensuring safe, sustainable and resilient transport capabilities.

Leonardo and RFI aim to identify the architecture and functionality of the integrated digital movement management platform dedicated to military mobility, in ordinary and extraordinary situations for the transport of military equipment through dual-use infrastructure. Innovative solutions for accessing heterogeneous data sources and enhancing them with automated processes will be an integral part of the platform.

As part of the collaboration, Leonardo will express its expertise in global security and global monitoring with the support of advanced AI techniques on several fronts: census and monitoring of dual-use infrastructure, modeling of articulated infrastructure and services, simulation and optimization of complex networks.

In addition, in order to ensure high standards of data protection, Leonardo's Global Security Operation Center is expected to be used with proprietary threat intelligence solutions - to characterize and analyze potential cyber threats through collection and analysis from open sources - and Live Endpoint Security, for the management and security of IT and OT network-connected devices.

Among other things, the agreement calls for the use of specific know-how in the world of rail security and movement by integrating RFI's movement management application components into the project with the other air and ground mobility platforms needed to generate a context of technological interoperability based on extremely robust security principles.

Leonardo's stock is up 2.2 percent to EUR22.61 per share.
