MercadoLibre, Inc. reported earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2023. For the fourth quarter, the company reported revenue was USD 4,261 million compared to USD 3,002 million a year ago. Net income was USD 165 million compared to USD 165 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 3.26 compared to USD 3.28 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 3.25 compared to USD 3.25 a year ago.
For the full year, revenue was USD 14,473 million compared to USD 10,537 million a year ago. Net income was USD 987 million compared to USD 482 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 19.64 compared to USD 9.57 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 19.46 compared to USD 9.53 a year ago.
MercadoLibre, Inc. is the leading online marketplace in Latin America. The group operates an IT platform enabling individuals and professionals to carry out their purchasing and selling transactions for goods and services. The activity is organized around 5 areas:
- operation of online trading platforms;
- online payment services: services provided through the MercadoPago platform;
- shipping services: services provided through the MercadoEnvios platform;
- development of classified ad sites;
- other: e-commerce software development, advertising services, etc.
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: Brazil (53.8%), Argentina (23.7%), Mexico (17.7%) and other (4.8%).
