Murata findings as of
With the increasing adoption of 5G technology, mobile data traffic is projected to increase dramatically, requiring base station infrastructure to become smaller in size, more lightweight, and lower in power consumption in order to expand 5G network coverage. The number of circuit board components also continues to increase with the rise in multiple output power supply use, creating demand for device sizes to be maintained or made smaller and making it increasingly important for circuit boards to have higher component densities.
Murata's proprietary thin layer technology has allowed for this product to be approximately 67% smaller in volume and 49% smaller in area than our 2012M size (GRM21BC72A105KE01) multilayer ceramic capacitors. This will allow the capacitor to take up less space on the circuit board.
