Hsin-chu, Taiwan, ROC - August 5th, 2022 - Novatek (TSE:3034),
a leading global smart display and image total solution provider,
today announced its first half consolidated financial result of
2022 and the third quarter outlook at the analyst meeting.
Revenue, operating expense, and operating income in the first
half of 2022 reached NT$67.92 billion, NT$10.24 billion, and
NT$23.26 billion, representing year-over-year increase of 12.39%,
8.14%, and 21.15%, respectively. The gross profit margin in the
first half of 2022 increased up to 49.29%, from 47.41% in the
first half of 2021. Net income in the first half of 2022 increased
by 25.29% year-over-year to NT$19.62 billion, with earnings per
share of NT$32.25.
The second quarter revenue was down by 13.83% quarter-over-quarter
to NT$31.46 billion from NT$36.51 billion in Q1'22, and decreased
by 7.77% year-over-year from NT$34.11 billion in Q2'21. The
sequential revenue decline was caused by a combination of
increased global inflation, pandemic, and sharp slowdown at
consumer products. The second quarter gross margin down
quarter-over-quarter to 47.62% from 50.73% in Q1'22, due to
cost increase and ASP adjustment.
Second quarter operating expenses decreased quarter-over-quarter
to NT$5.00 billion from NT$5.24 billion in Q1'22 and decreased
year-over-year from NT$5.17 billion in Q2'21. Second quarter
operating income decreased quarter-over-quarter to NT$9.98
billion from NT$13.28 billion in Q1'22 and decreased
year-over-year from NT$11.99 billion in Q2'21.
Novatek's 2022 Q2 net income was NT$8.49 billion, which decreased
quarter-over-quarter by 23.78% from NT$11.13 billion in Q1'22 and
decreased year-over-year by 13.28% from NT$9.79 billion in Q2'21.
Earnings per share for Q2'22 were NT$13.95, compared with
NT$16.08 in Q2'21.
Management expects overall performance for the third quarter 2022
to be as followings:
Revenue is expected to be between NT$19.1billion and NT$20.3billion
Gross profit margin is expected to be between 42% and 44%
Operating profit margin is expected to be between 23% and 25%
