(Alliance News) - Plant Health Care PLC on Thursday said its biological nematode control product has been approved in Mexico.

The maker of biological products for agriculture said Mexico's Federal Committee for Protection from Sanitary Risks approved Plant Health's PHC68949 to control nematodes in vegetable crops.

The product amplifies a plant's natural defence pathways to provide protection to protect plant roots from parasitic nematodes, the company explained.

Plant Health plans a limited launch of the product in the second half of 2024, aimed at building grower and distributor awareness.

Chief Executive Officer Jeff Tweedy said: "The approval of PHC68949 supports the company's vision to be a leading global provider of alternatives to conventional synthetic agrochemicals. We are excited about the developing plans to launch PHC68949 in 2024, with strong growth thereafter."

Plant Health shares rose 8.6% to 3.97 pence each on Thursday afternoon in London.
