Senvion SA announced that it has concluded the 30-MW contract with Italy's Renexia SpA for the Taranto offshore wind farm in Italian waters. Senvion will supply ten of its 3.0M122 units for what is said to be the first offshore wind farm in the Italian Mediterranean Sea. The turbines will be installed on monopile foundations in a water depth of 3 to 18 metres (9.8-59 ft) near Italy's Taranto harbour in the southern region of Apulia. Senvion said that the characteristics of the nearshore environment required the adaptation of the turbines as well as developing a customised procedure. The German manufacturer will provide maintenance services during a five-year period, with an extension option of up to 25 years.
