SPRING, Texas (AP) — SPRING, Texas (AP) — Southwestern Energy Co. (SWN) on Thursday reported a loss of $658 million in its fourth quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Spring, Texas-based company said it had a loss of 60 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 17 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 13 cents per share.

The independent oil and gas company posted revenue of $1.69 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.51 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $1.56 billion, or $1.41 per share. Revenue was reported as $6.52 billion.
