Swissport Tanzania Plc reported earnings and operating results for the full year of 2013. The company recorded a remarkable 17% increase in its operating profit before tax of TZS 11.387 billion up from TZS 9.7 billion made in 2012 financial year, due to good performance of the aviation industry. Increased profitability of the company has pushed earnings per share to TZS 208.22 compared to TZS 186.75 reported in 2012. Increased frequencies and improved equipment by Emirates, KLM, Ethiopian Airways, Qatar Airways, South African Airways, Egypt Air and Rwanda Air all impacted positively on Swissport's performance. Total operating revenue for the year grew by 19% to TZS 36.115 billion as compared to TZS 30.35 billion in 2012.

The company handled 13,098 flights which is an increase of 13% when compared to 11,590 flights in 2012. Embarking passengers handled were 905,347 as compared to 657,072 passengers handled in 2012, which is an increased of 38% when compared to 2012. Cargo handled in 2013 was 25,126 tonnes recording a decrease of 11% compared to 28,354 tonnes handled in 2012. Significant increase in flights handled during the year explains ground handling revenue growth by 25.1% to TZS 23.214 billion compared to TZS 18.551 billion realized in the previous year. Cargo handling revenue grew by 9.3% to TZS 12.9 billion compared to TZS 11.8 billion earned in 2012.
