Pipe Metallurgical Company/TMK and the SMS MEER S.p. A signed a contract for production and delivery of modern equipment needed for thermal treatment of weldless pipes. The order is to be fulfilled by Seversky Pipe Plant and TMK-ARTROM. The two plants will have to supply their customer with heating furnaces, tempering furnaces, hardening appliances (inner and outer sprayers and a hardening bath) as well as equipment for pipe sizing and straightening and for closed-cycle water conditioning. Seversky Pipe Plant’s and TMK-ARTROM’s projected capacity is estimated at 265,000,000 kg and 165,000,000 kg a year, respectively. The latter is already busy designing the machines, while the shipments are scheduled to begin at the end of the year. Warranty tests and the production line’s launch will probably start in the second quarter of 2017. As for the former, the plant expects to get the production site ready with all the electric power supply infrastructure in 2016-2017, while the warranty tests and commissioning are scheduled for the first quarter of 2018.
