Waystream has received an order for the upgrade of 15,000 fiber connections to 10Gbit/s in a Danish broadband network. The order is related to the frame agreement signed by the parties in late December 2019 (as earlier communicated) and means that the operator in Denmark now starts the upgrade and installation of 15,000 customer connections using Waystreams ASR8048 switch. The project, where the ASR8048 replaces equipment from another vendor, will be conducted during 2020. The order includes switches, optical components and support services and is worth apx. SEK 8 million SEK (apx. EUR 780,000). The customer is one of Denmarks operators and connect households in several locations in Denmark, including in the Copenhagen area. The fiber network passes 300,000 households and businesses and the company has over 140,000 customers today. City networks in Swedish regions Blekinge and Skåne have also recently selected Waystreams 10Gbit/s switches. Combined this makes the region of south Sweden and east Denmark one of the most highly penetrated and broadband networks in the world. Fiber networks are the growing broadband technology in Denmark. According to the danish government body Energistyrelsen the number of broadband subscribers in Denmark increased by 14% between mid 2017 and mid 2018.
