Around 800 babies are born in Ptuj Maternity Hospital every year. To make their arrival as safe as possible, Zavarovalnica Triglav, as part of its New Year 'For a Better Tomorrow' prevention campaign, has joined forces with the Dr Jože Potrč General Hospital in Ptuj for a good cause. The company has provided financial support for the purchase of a CTG machine that ensures a safer birth and the comprehensive and reliable monitoring of babies in the final hours before birth.

For the fourth year running, Zavarovalnica Triglav have redirected a portion of funds to support a range of prevention projects around the country, thereby fulfilling its mission of social responsibility and the creation of a safer future in practice as part of its 'For a Better Tomorrow' campaign. One of the more than 20 projects supported this year is the purchase of a state-of-the-art CTG machine for newborns, which constitutes a big step forward in the recording of babies' heartbeat and mothers' contractions.

Slovenia's largest insurer is keen to help provide expectant mothers and their children with the best possible care at the moment a mother is making her final preparations for delivery - a period that is usually full of emotions, fear and expectation. 'Triglav's mission is to create a safer future. We want to help ensure that newborns and their mothers are cared for to the greatest possible extent and that the path to their first encounter with each other is as safe and as stress-free as possible. The new, state-of-the-art CTG machine will help to achieve that,' said Uroš Skuhala, director of the Maribor regional office of Zavarovalnica Triglav, upon the handover.

New machine for new lives

The Dr Jože Potrč General Hospital in Ptuj is responsible for providing healthcare to around 130,000 inhabitants of the Ptuj-Ormož region and beyond. One of the pillars of its work is the gynaecology and maternity unit, of which Ptuj Maternity Hospital is an integral part.

'For a number of years the Dr Jože Potrč General Hospital in Ptuj has faced problems in acquiring the latest medical equipment necessary for high-quality, safe and accessible healthcare. Therefore, last year (as well as this), Zavarovalnica Triglav responded to our request and made an important contribution to acquiring a telemetric CTG machine for monitoring babies in the final hours leading up to birth. We thank them wholeheartedly on behalf of all children, expectant parents and staff,' said Andrej Levanič, director of the Dr Jože Potrč General Hospital in Ptuj.

Fourth year of the 'For a Better Tomorrow' campaign

The 'For a Better Tomorrow' New Year prevention campaign is already in its fourth year. Over the last three years, Zavarovalnica Triglav have supported more than 70 prevention projects throughout the country, with a further 20 or so receiving support this year.

As part of this year's New Year preventive campaign, Triglav's regional office in Maribor will also be providing funds to Ivanjkovci primary school for the purchase of professional materials on fire safety for the new library, which is intended for users of all generations: for schoolchildren, nursery school children and staff in the morning, and for all residents of the local community of Ivanjkovci, as well as secondary school pupils and students, in the afternoon. To ensure that all library visitors are as safe and secure as possible, Triglav have also provided funds for the purchase of a defibrillator, which has been installed by the library entrance.
