Avenir Telecom announced on Tuesday that it has strengthened its strategic positioning in the growing 'smart feature phones' market by investing in Kai OS Technologies, a developer of operating systems for entry-level cell phones.

The Marseille-based group stresses that this minority investment, for a confidential amount, enriches a relationship initiated in 2019 with the release of the first 'Energizer' brand phones using the KaiOS operating system.

He points out that Kai OS Technologies is backed by major players in the technology and telecoms industry, including Cathay Innovations, Google, Reliance Jio and TCL.

The company is behind an ecosystem of affordable digital products and services, and its flagship product, KaiOS powers more than 175 million devices sold in over 100 countries.

While devices running on this platform require limited memory, they provide access to applications such as WhatsApp, YouTube, Facebook, Google Search and Google Maps.
