After four years of studies and engineering, the subsidiary Copex Voltex, together with hydrogen supplier Linde, unveiled the "hydro station" that will fuel the first hydrogen-based bus to operate in the country, reaffirming the company's commitment to sustainable mobility.

The dispenser, introduced during the launch of the bus to be used at Anglo American's mining sites, will be located on Buses Hualpén premises, in the municipality of Pudahuel, and is expected to be operational by the end of 2023. In this regard, Copec highlighted the enormous potential of green hydrogen as energy for people's mobility.

"At Copec we are supporting the energy transition and making significant progress in the field of new energies and forms of mobility as part of our transformation process. Within this goal, hydrogen represents an enormous potential for diversification and confirms the company's position as a relevant player for the new developments required by the country and the planet," said Juan Pablo Doñas, Corporate Affairs Manager of the subsidiary.

By 2050, hydrogen could cover up to 24% of the country's energy demand and create 5.4 million jobs, in addition to contributing to the total reduction of 560 million metric tons of CO2.
